Upstate Weekend for May 3-6

Fit for the Cure
What: Belk at the Haywood Mall and Wacoal will host a semi-annual Fit for the Cure event in which they will donate $4 for every customer that is fitted in a Wacoal bra. No purchase necessary. They will donate another $2 for each purchase.
When: Thursday, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Where: Belk Haywood Mall, 700 Haywood Road, Greenville.
Cost: Free.

Abbeville's Spring Festival
What: Abbeville hosts its Spring Festival with Soul Revival performing gospel and Poizn’ Whiskey Band performing Southern rock.
When: Thursday, noon to 9 p.m.; Friday and Saturday, noon to 10 p.m.
Where: Court Square, Abbeville.
Cost: Free.

Piedmont Natural Gas Downtown Alive
What: The Weathers perform their alternative and Americana music at this outdoor concert that raises money for the Metropolitan Arts Council.
When: Thursday, 5:30 to 8:30 p.m.
Where: Hyatt Plaza, Main Street, downtown Greenville.
Cost: Free.

Bluegrass, Bluejeans & BBQ
What: The Greenwood Community Theatre’s annual event hosts live music by Trey Ward and food by Carolina BBQ Shack.
When: Thursday, 5:30 to 8:30 p.m.
Where: Arts Center at the Federal Building, 120 Main St., Greenwood.
Cost: $30 at the door.

Greenville Drive vs. Lexington Legends
What: Greenville Drive vs. Lexington Legends.
When: Thursday, Friday, Saturday, 7 p.m.; Sunday, 4 p.m.
Where: Fluor Field, 945 S. Main St, Greenville.
Cost: Prices vary. Get tickets here.

Salsa Night
What: Salsa Greenville hosts salsa lessons. No partner required.
When: Thursday, 8:30 p.m. to 1 a.m.
Where: Studio 54, 3715 E. North St., Greenville.
Cost: $5 per person.

Shredding Event
What: The city of Greenville and Shred-it Greenville will host an identity theft awareness and shredding event for the public. All paper must be bagged or boxed and each person is limited to three large trash bags or three small boxes of paper. Bags and boxes must be intact, with no rips or tears. Reusable bags, boxes or containers will be returned.
When: Friday, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Where: TD Convention Center, 1 Exposition Drive, Greenville.
Cost: Free.

Main Street Fridays
What: The Buchanan Boys will perform country at this outdoor, downtown concert.
When: Friday, 5:30 to 9:30 p.m.
Where: North Main and Main streets, Greenville.
Cost: Free.

Friday Starry Nights: Oasis in Space
What: The Roper Mountain Science Center hosts shows at the Daniel Observatory to observe the stars and planets seen through the eighth largest telescope of its kind in the nation.
When: Friday, 7 p.m. or 8:15 p.m.
Where: Roper Mountain Science Center, 402 Roper Mountain Road, Greenville.
Cost: $5 for adults; $4 for children, ages 5 to 12, and for senior citizens, age 60 and older.

Alchemy Improv Comedy
What: Alchemy Improv Comedy entertains audiences every Friday night with a different guest storyteller each week. It’s fully improvised. The early show will feature the cast of Alchemy Comedy.
When: Friday, 8 p.m. and 9:30 p.m.
Where: Coffee Underground, 1 E. Coffee St., Greenville.
Cost: $5 per person for the 8 p.m. show and $8 per person for the 9:30 p.m. show. Get tickets at the door.

TD Saturday Market
What: The TD Saturday Market offers all locally grown produce, foods and flowers.
When: Saturday, 8 a.m. to noon.
Where: Main Street at McBee Avenue, Greenville.
Cost: Free.

Electronics Recycling Day
What: The city of Greenville’s Solid Waste Division hosts a free collection day to residents and businesses. The collection center will accept: computer monitors, keyboards, mice, CPUs/all things that plug into a computer, fluorescent bulbs, tubes, ballasts, etc.
When: Saturday, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Where: Public Works Division, 360 S. Hudson St., Greenville.
Cost: Free.

Reedy River Duck Derby
What: The derby involves 10,000 rubber ducks being released into the Reedy River for a race. The day will be combined with a Community Children’s Day with hands-on activities and entertainment.
When: Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Where: Reedy River Falls Park, 601 S. Main St., Greenville.
Cost: Free.

Greenville Symphony Orchestra finale concert
What: The Greenville Symphony Orchestra is presenting its season finale concert this weekend: Beethoven's Ninth with an 89 piece orchestra and 160 voices of the Greenville Chorale, plus four guest artists.
When: Saturday, 8 p.m.; Sunday 3 p.m.
Where:  Peace Center Concert Hall, 300 S. Main St., Greenville. 
Cost: Tickets cost from $15 to $52. Call 864-467-3000 for tickets.

Coffee and Poetry at Coffee Underground
What: Bring your own poems to read or perform. Beginners welcome. All poetry styles welcome.
When: Sunday, 7:30 to 10 p.m.
Where: Coffee Underground, 1 E. Coffee St., Greenville.
Cost: $5 per person.
