Servosity hiring for 30 high-tech positions

Greenville-based Servosity announced plans Monday to hire 30 high-tech positions at its headquarters in the Next Innovation Center.

The investment amount was undisclosed. Servosity plans to hire software developers, software engineers, system engineers, support engineers, account managers and business developers throughout the next 12 to 18 months.

The explosive growth Servosity experiences today began in 2005 when CEO Damien Stevens saw a need in the IT sector.

He saw an increasing demand for backup and disaster recovery solutions for a variety of industries. Growth has continued more than 100% year over year, annually.

Servosity has been in the Next building at 411 University Ridge since the building’s opening. The company recently moved from several cubicles into roughly 3,200 square feet of office space in the incubator. It currently has nine employees.

“I got a lot of value out of being in the Next group and building,” Stevens said. “The CEOs here are all facing the same challenges and I get a lot of value of being able to get together and talk.”

The expanded team will enable the company to continue delivering its software solutions, while expanding its support teams and infrastructure for its growing customer base.

“There’s no end in sight for the demand. No one is relying less on IT,” Stevens said. “We plan to keep hiring, but it’s the highest paid positions that are the hardest to fill.”

The recruitment process has been very labor intensive to recruit the best and the brightest, Stevens said, as the company searches both locally and nationally. Servosity has been flying candidates in from around the country, as well as scouring the country’s top 100 computer science schools and S.C. universities for candidates.

Computer science graduates are in high demand for this company. The average starting salary is around $60,000, increasing up to around $120,000, Stevens said.

“While Greenville and the Upstate may not be widely known yet as a hotbed of technology organizations like Servosity, the same characteristics that appealed to our growing organization to locate and grow here — quality of life, a pro-business mindset, an emerging high-impact technology ecosystem — will doubtless appeal to other organizations to consider this area,” Stevens said. “And as we continue to grow successful businesses in the technology space, we’ll draw more and more talent here.”

Servosity sells its solutions to its customer network of managed service providers and IT resellers, such as Black Box Network Services, Plus Inc. and EDTS, who then sell it to their customers.

Servosity’s solutions allow its customer network to manage and monitor backup and disaster recovery operations 24/7, 365 days a year. U.S.-based engineers provide customer support.

If disaster strikes, whether it’s a computer crash, hacker or a natural disaster, providers and resellers can reduce recovery time and ensure that operations will continue within 15 minutes, according to the company.

Servosity allows customers to backup and restore locally to a network and to the cloud. It supports Windows, Mac and Linux as well as VMware, Hyper-V, Xen and Virtual Box Virtual environments.

The Greenville Area Development Corp., Next, the S.C. Department of Commerce and the city of Greenville all collaborated on the expansion, Stevens said.
