Carolina Fabrication Inc. plans to invest $500,000 and hire 35 people to expand its operations in Abbeville County, the Abbeville County Development Services office said Monday.

The company fabricates heavy steel for the power, industrial construction, waste disposal and container markets. Carolina Fabrication operates a 141,000-square-foot facility on a 42-acre site at the Lakelands Commerce Center in Abbeville. Carolina Fabrication will construct a sand-blast facility on site.

This announcement comes on the heels of two other announcements for Abbeville County.

Last month, Pro Towel Etc. announced a $2.5 million expansion that will add 50 jobs, and Abbeville County landed a $1 million federal grant to build an industrial incubator in the Lakelands Commerce Center.

“Every county continually works on projects behind the scenes. It is refreshing to be able to share some of the wins that can become public knowledge. Additional projects are in the works and we hope to soon be able to release more successes,” Steve Bowles, director of development services for Abbeville County, said in a news release.
