At the opening of The Carolina Ballet Theatre’s The Nutcracker at the Peace Center Nov. 30, TD Bank and Make-A-Wish South Carolina presented a Steinway grand piano to an 11-year-old Spartanburg native diagnosed with leukemia.
Peter, whose last name was not released, is a pianist and wanted to be able to play music at any time in his home.
The Carolina Ballet Theatre invited Peter to play a Christmas song on opening night of The Nutcracker at the Peace Center.
“While most wishes involve travel to places like Walt Disney World or to Hollywood to meet their favorite celebrities, this unique opportunity allows the community to experience the magic of a wish live,” Russell Smith, president and CEO of Make-A-Wish South Carolina, said in a news release.
“TD Bank is proud to be a part of the Greenville community and support organizations that help make this a great place to live and work,” said Linda McGuigan, senior vice president of retail for TD Bank and a board member for Make-A-Wish South Carolina. “We are thrilled to have the opportunity to help make Peter’s wish come true, and we hope he helps enrich the community in turn with his gift of music.”
