Gov. Nikki Haley and the South Carolina Department of Commerce plan to host rural and economic development leaders from across the state for the 23rd annual South Carolina Rural Summit.

To register

The Rural Summit begins at 8:30 a.m. March 4. Tickets cost $125 before Feb. 20, and $150 from Feb. 20-27. For registration forms and more information, click here.

The summit will be held March 4 at the Municipal Center in Aiken.

“Rural communities across our state play an important role in South Carolina’s economic success,” Haley said in a news release. “The rural summit provides a chance for local leaders to come together and share ideas about how to make their communities more competitive in attracting investment.”

Rural community leaders, economic developers and state officials will share ideas, experiences and practical knowledge at the summit, according to a news release.

Haley will give the keynote address and preside over the summit awards ceremony. The awards recognize an individual or group that has contributed to the improvement of rural South Carolina. The winner of the Amateur Rural Summit Photography Contest will also be selected during the program.

Other speakers at this year’s summit include Joe Max Higgins, CEO of Columbus-Lowndes Development Link; Tan Kirby Davis, president of the Kirby Resource Group; and Bernell K. Ingram, president and CEO of Visions International.
