AVX Corp. said Wednesday it completed its $86 million acquisition of the tantalum component division of Nichicon Corp., which has manufacturing facilities in Shiga, Japan, and Tianjin, China.
The annual component sales of the division are $75 million, AVX said.
“The purchase of the tantalum component operations of Nichicon enhances our leadership position in the passive electronic component industry and provides further opportunities for expansion in the Asian region and tantalum component manufacturing efficiencies,” AVX President and CEO John Gilbertson said in a news release.
AVX, headquartered in Greenville, is a manufacturer and supplier of passive electronic components and related products.
