TEDxGreenville gears up for its fourth year of hosting educational and inspirational speakers to generate “your own ideas worth spreading.”
TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. Founded in 1984, TED is a nonprofit that is devoted to “ideas worth spreading.” It holds two annual conferences, one on the West Coast and one in Scotland.
The event features people from around the community and the country to speak to attendees in the hopes of igniting brainstorming sessions, new ideas, collaboration and inspiration.
This year’s theme is By Design, referring to each person’s ability to build their own future and community.
“While many times circumstances which we encounter are beyond our control, we all have the power to influence — even to design — our experiences,” said TEDxGreenville 2013 curator Despina Yeargin in a news release.
At the March 22 TEDxGreenville event, TEDTalks video and live speakers will aim to spark discussion and connection in a small group.
TEDxGreenville was the first independently organized TEDx event in South Carolina. In 2010, a group of TED enthusiasts from around the community created a TED-like experience for Upstate residents.
