Pi-Squared coming to Boiling Springs, Spartanburg

A new pizza restaurant is coming to the Upstate.

Pi-Squared Pizza, which opened its first location in Hendersonville, N.C. in February 2016, has announced plans to open a location in Boiling Springs, S.C. and at the Drayton Mills Marketplace in Spartanburg.

(Photo/Provided)The restaurant offers Detroit-style pizza which, according to its website is square, uses a steel pan, has thick crust with cheese spread to the edges of the pan. Sauce is placed on the pizza last which is how the pizza earned the nickname “red top pizza” or “upside-down pizza.”

According to a news release announcing the new locations, Pi-Squared Pizza’s menu “also offers signature dishes like the No Brainer, composed of fresh homemade pizza sauce and mozzarella and the Detroiter, which is the classic featuring spicy pepperoni and Italian seasoning. There are also artisan compositions like the Tomato Pi, BBQ Mango and Fig-et About It, with Gorgonzola cheese and mission figs drizzled with honey.”

Pi-Squared Pizza will be open seven days a week for lunch and dinner and is expected to open at Drayton Mills in the summer.


 

Anderson On Tap set for May 18

Carolina Beer Company, Inc. and The Greater Anderson Musical Arts Consortium (GAMAC) will present the seventh annual Anderson On Tap beer tasting at 7 p.m., Thursday, May 18 at The Bleckley Inn in downtown Anderson, South Carolina.

Featured SC breweries for this year’s event will include Benford Brewing in Lancaster, Carolina Bauernhaus Ales in Anderson, Cooper River Brewing in Charleston, Full Spectrum in Fort Mill, Good Times from Greenwood, RJ Rockers from Spartanburg, and Thomas Creek in Greenville among others. As in past years, patrons will enjoy unlimited “tastings” of up to 25 brews with full pint servings of select beers available.

Anderson On Tap attendees can also look forward to food from some of Anderson’s restaurants. Selections from The Butcher’s Block, The Mellow Mushroom, The Pompous Pig, Fatz, Sullivan’s Metropolitan Grill, Earle Street Kitchen at Brookstone, Shuck’s Oyster Bar, The Sweetery, and CocoBon Chocolatier will be available with suggested beer pairings. Non-alcoholic beverages will also be available for designated drivers and non-beer drinkers.


 

Tucanos Brazilian Grill celebrates 1 year in Greenville

Tucanos Brazilian Grill in Magnolia Park celebrated its one-year anniversary for Monday, May 1.

As part of that celebration, the restaurant announced it partnered with Loaves & Fishes, a local nonprofit dedicated to ending food insecurity in Greenville. Customers could donate non-perishable food items during the celebration and Tucanos donated a portion of sales that evening to the nonprofit.

“We are incredibly grateful to the Greenville community for their support. This past year has been truly incredible,” said General Manager John Ramm, in a news release. “We take great pride in providing our customers with the authentic Brazilian experience in their dining experience.”
