Two Upstate software companies received SC Launch investments through the South Carolina Research Authority.

ActivEd and PursuitAlert received $200,000 and $50,000 respectively, according to a news release from SCRA.

"We are already seeing the impact of both companies on the state and look forward to their continued successes,” SCRA Executive Director Bob Quinn said in the news release

PursuitAlert — a Pickens-based company — developed a smart phone app that alerts the public when there is a police pursuit within three miles of their location.

The $50,000 from SC Launch will be used for manufacturing and sales.

Furman University professor of health sciences Julian Reed developed ActivEd, an online tool to help educators find ways to incorporate physical activity into lesson plans.

The company previously received $200,000 in SC Launch funding in 2014.
