An Illinois-based developer has been chosen to develop a recently announced expansion in Union County.
Agracel Inc. officials said they have been selected to develop the 182,000-square-foot expansion for Gestamp South Carolina. Earlier this week, Gestamp — a Spanish-based manufacturer of metal automotive components for BMW Manufacturing Co. and Volvo Cars — announced it was spending $129 million to expand its Union County operation by 300,000 square feet.
The 182,000-square-foot warehouse will be leased by Gestamp and built to suit. That will be in addition to 123,000 square feet of new construction at Gestamp’s campus. The investment by Gestamp is accompanied by the addition of 130 jobs.
Agracel Inc. recently opened its southeast regional office at the Drayton Mills development in Spartanburg. The office will serve North and South Carolina, Georgia and Virginia. The company recently developed the 50,000-square-foot up-fit for ZF Transmissions’ facility in Gray Court.
