JR Automation Technologies has opened its new, 50,000-square-foot facility in Liberty.
The expansion located at Pickens County Commerce Park, is the result of a $3.4 million capital investment from the company and is expected to create 56 new jobs.
The 36-year-old Holland, Mich.-based company designs and builds custom automated equipment and provides services in the automotive, aerospace, medical device, pharmaceutical, food processing, construction industries, among others. With more than 850 employees at eight locations — including 32 in Pickens County — the company’s technologies and processes range from welding to laser applications to metal and plastics processing.
“We’re already walking through the facility talking about what our growth plans are for this year and the following year, so I assure you, especially with this weather, we will be back soon for the next grand opening,” said Mike DuBose, JR Automation chairman and CEO, in a news release.
Ray Farley, executive director of Alliance Pickens, called the new facility “a phenomenal candy store of technology.”
