A $62 million apartment complex will join the single-family home neighborhood Falls at Meehan soon, with the first apartments ready at the Pendleton site in September.

Construction on the 296-unit Falls at Meehan Apartments began last June. The 17.46-acre project is a joint effort by partners Allie Capital, Makson Construction, RealtyLink, and Joe and Jeff Bostic, according to a news release.

Developers say their decision to build the apartments was a response to housing shortages in an area seeing increasing population and available jobs. It is about half way between medical implement manufacturer Arthrex and Clemson University — about four miles from each — although it is not intended as off-campus student housing. The project will be the first new market rate, garden-style apartment community developed in the Pendleton area in years, the release stated.

The complex will have one, two and three-bedroom standard and ADA options across 11 buildings, the release said. The community includes a resort-style pool, sundeck and cabana, grilling stations, clubhouse, fitness center, fire pit, car wash station, dog park and dog wash.

The apartments will have finishes such as granite countertops, designer cabinetry, stainless steel appliances, washer and dryer, wood-look luxury vinyl tile and high-quality carpet flooring, walk-in closets in multi-bedroom units, and patios or balconies. It is one mile from Pendleton’s Town Square.

“Falls at Meehan Apartments meets the perfect mix of prime location and housing demand,” Steve Mudge, president and CEO of Allie Capital, said in the release. “Our team is pleased to create this vibrant new apartment community for greater Pendleton, and we all look forward to being a part of the area’s continued growth.”

A ribbon cutting and announcement event will be held at 9 a.m. on May 9 at 915 S. Mechanic St. in Pendleton.
