WHY: Small businesses are the growth engine of our economy, creating 2 out of 3 net new jobs(1). And businesses that are online grow 40% faster than those that aren’t(2). We can help small businesses connect with more customers by helping them get online and on the map.

In 2017, South Carolina ranked #4 in the country to women launching businesses(3). On the other side of the coin, South Carolina lags significantly for the economic clout of those businesses, as measured by gross firm revenue and jobs created. Leveraging our experiences educating women and our passion for advancing education and economic independence, Columbia College has embarked on a mission to help women diagnose the hurdles, challenges and stereotypes women are facing, while educating, coaching and mentoring women to get past the $150K revenue hurdle and onto the first hire as fast as possible. Since 2014, we have served hundreds of women across the state through educational programs, peer-to-peer network development and developing a strong network of partnerships with service providers across the state.
