Southwest Airlines passengers can now fly a straight shot from the Greenville-Spartanburg International Airport to Houston’s William P. Hobby International Airport.

The service will take off on Nov. 5 of this year and will operate on Monday, Thursday and Friday via a 143-seat Boeing 737-700 aircraft, according to a news release. November tickets are available for purchase online.

“Greenville-Spartanburg International Airport remains poised for growth, in spite of complications due to the coronavirus pandemic,” Dave Edwards, president and CEO of GSP, said in the release. “We are pleased that Southwest Airlines continues to see opportunity in the Upstate and we are thrilled that travelers across the region will have more options to enjoy Southwest’s low fares and quality service.”

Currently, Southwest Airlines offers daily nonstop flights to Atlanta and Baltimore from GSP.

“Today’s announcement is another sign of Southwest Airlines’ continued commitment to GSP and the communities we serve,” Scott Carr, vice president of commercial business and communications at GSP, said in the release. “We’re excited to offer this much sought-after nonstop destination for our passengers and improved access to the places they visit most.”
