Lockheed Martin honors veterans with thousands of wreaths

The Lockheed Martin Corp. has donated $210,000 to Wreaths Across America, a nonprofit that places wreaths at the grave markers of fallen veterans.

“Lockheed Martin proudly supports Wreaths Across America and its mission to remember, honor, and teach," Meagan Campion, Lockheed Martin director of social impact, said in a news release. “About one in five Lockheed Martin employees has served in uniform, so this gesture is personal to many of our colleagues. We are grateful for this solemn opportunity to honor all those who have served.”

The donation sponsored 15,000 wreaths distributed to about 28 U.S. cemeteries on Dec. 18 including Arlington National Cemetery and Beaufort National Cemetery.

“The veterans we honor committed themselves unselfishly at the most critical moments in our nation’s history,” Karen Worcester, Wreaths Across America’s executive director, said in the release. “The generous support of Lockheed Martin ensures that we will be able to fulfill our mission in remembrance of these brave men and women.”

Molina Healthcare, nonprofits donate food boxes

The Molina Healthcare Charitable Foundation, in collaboration with Molina Healthcare of South Carolina, Harvest Hope, and Mill Village FoodShare, hosted a holiday food box giveaway at Grove Elementary School in Piedmont on Dec. 16.

Harvest Hope purchased the 200 food boxes, each including a complete meal for a family of four, with a $10,000 grant from The Molina Healthcare Charitable Foundation.
