For the first half of 2016, the BMW Group reported brand sales in the United States down 9% over the same period a year ago.

The company said it has sold 153,436 through the end of June, compared to over 168,000 it sold in the first six months of 2015.

The X3 sport activity vehicle – produced solely in Spartanburg – did register a 69.5% increase in sales for the period while the 7 Series increased its sales by 69.2% and the 2 Series notched an increase of 139.4% over the first six months.

BMW brand sales were at 28,855 for the month of June, a 10.3% decline from the 32,176 reported in June 2015.

“The mid-point to the year always brings some uncertainly about what may be ahead in the second half, so I’m very pleased to see several of our key models showing strong results in June,” said Ludwig Willisch, president and CEO, BMW of North America, in a press release. “The X1 and X3 are indicative of the still growing trend toward Sports Activity Vehicles, but the numbers also show that great cars like the BMW 7 Series and 2 Series have a strong appeal and following.”

Sales of the company’s Mini brand were also down for the month as the company reported 4,914 vehicles sold in June 2016. That was a 20.4% decline from the 6,174 sold in June 2015. For the first half of the year, Mini USA sales dropped 16.9% from 2015 sales figures.

Sales of the company’s certified pre-owned vehicles did set a record in June 2016 with 10,158 sold – which was an increase of 8.9% over the same time last year. Pre-owned sales also set at sales record with 17,420 sold in June 2016, an increase of 15.6% over the same time last year.

Mini pre-owned sales in the U.S. were down 4.6% in June 2016, but total pre-owned sales for Mini in the U.S. were up 5.4% over the first six months of the year.
