Chase plans to expand its retail banking services across the country, including a Clemson branch at 1075 Tiger Blvd. as its first foray into what the company identifies as its Greenville market.

A company spokesman said the Clemson branch will open this summer and will be the first of several to open in the Upstate. The expansion is part of a surge Chase plans for nine markets around the country that will lead to 90 new branches and 700 new employees.

Chase has a commercial bank in Greenville at 40 W. Broad St.

The bank announced last year that it planned to open 400 new branches and hire as many as 3,000 employees in new markets over the next five years, according to a news release. Approximately 30% of branches will be in low-to-moderate income communities, the release said.

“This expansion marks a major milestone for our firm by allowing us to serve more customers, small businesses and communities across the country,” Thasunda Duckett, CEO of Chase Consumer Banking, said in the release. “To us, this is so much more than building branches. This is about new customer relationships, better access to credit and local jobs.”

Customers also will have access to cardless ATMs that can perform more than 70% of teller transactions, the release said.

Entry-level employees in the new markets will be paid at least $15 an hour and will receive the firm’s full benefits package, the release said.

Chase is the U.S. consumer and commercial banking business of JPMorgan Chase & Co.
