Following a recent expansion beyond its original territory across the Southeast, Greenville-based Southern Management Corp. has changed its name to Height Finance.

The company acquired the original Heights Finance, previously based in Peoria, Ill., in 2019, and will use the brand to target a broader range of customers across the 11 states where it manages branches: Alabama, Georgia, Texas, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Wisconsin, Illinois, Missouri, Indiana, Kentucky and Tennessee, according to a news release. Additional legacy brands that operate under new Heights Finance banner include Covington Credit, Southern Finance and Quick Credit.

The company's S.C. branches include a Columbia location.

"While we continue to invest heavily in the technology needed to ensure quick loan processing and online convenience, we are first and foremost connected to each of the neighborhoods we serve through our brick-and-mortar locations," Heights Finance CEO Doug Clark said in the release. "We believe in meeting our customers where they are, treating them fairly and making it easy to do business with us. Most importantly, however, we've grown because we build relationships, becoming trusted advisers who help our hardworking customers along their financial journey.”

The company will also continue to recruit and hire new associates to fill positions in IT, data management and customer service in areas across the country, with the greatest concentration of growth in the Upstate, according to the release.
