Anderson County has more than 77,000 residents within its borders that struggle to make ends meet on a day-to-day basis, according to the United Way of Anderson County.
And after meeting with local residents, the nonprofit determined that safe neighborhoods and a stable income were the key priority issues for Anderson families in need.
To address that, the nonprofit cut the ribbon on the United Way Financial Stability Center and AIM’s Drive-Thru Food Pantry last month alongside the Anderson Chamber of Commerce, according to a news release.
The United Way Financial Stability Center will house the existing AIM location at 1202 S. Murray Ave. in Anderson.
Through the center, United Way hopes to “community-change strategies to help families meet their basic needs, while gaining the financial capability to plan for, and accomplish, their long-term financial goals,” according to the release.
