Samsung Electronics America Inc. is opening a customer care center in Greenville County, creating 200 jobs this year and another 200 by 2020.

The 34,928-square-foot facility at 901 Holland Road in Simpsonville will be the company’s third location in South Carolina, joining its current product support center in Simpsonville that employs more than 600 people and its $380 million home appliance manufacturing plant in Newberry County, which opened earlier this year.

The center will open in a partnership with Alorica, a platform for customer interactions, according to a news release.

“When Samsung announced its intentions to build a manufacturing facility in Newberry, they told the people of South Carolina that they were dedicated to our community,” Gov. Henry McMaster said in the release. “At every opportunity, this fantastic company has demonstrated that commitment, and today’s announcement that will create 400 new jobs in Greenville is just further proof that Samsung will be here for a very long time, investing in South Carolina and creating jobs for the people of our state.”

South Carolina was chosen as the location for the customer care center based on the state’s skilled workforce and the company’s existing facilities in South Carolina, the release said. Additional details on the site as well as the building’s formal ribbon cutting will be made available later this summer.

Samsung Electronics America Inc. is headquartered in Ridgefield Park, N.J.
