SCBio: Bold Leadership in the Eye of the Storm: Insights and Strategies to Secure our Future

Leadership from the South Carolina’s health care, education and life science sectors will discuss advances in a COVID-19 vaccine and other treatments and reshoring the medical supply chain with a national infectious disease policy expert during a free webinar June 23 from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.

Panelists will include Dr. Phyllis Arthur, vice president of infectious diseases and diagnostics policy at Biotechnology Innovation Organization; Sen. Lindsey Graham; Lou Kennedy, CEO of Nephron Pharmaceuticals; and Robert Caslen, president of the University of South Carolina, according to a news release.

“Our goal is to bring the diverse viewpoints of top leaders in government, industry, education and the life sciences industry together in one forum to assess where we are, and how we can make a difference for our citizens in recovering from COVID-19’s impact in the weeks to come,” Sam Konduros, CEO of SCBio, said in the release.

Discussion will center around topics including the expected timeline for developments in a COVID-19 vaccine and treatment, the implications of reopening South Carolina’s economy during a pandemic, strategies for bringing pharmaceutical companies and other medical suppliers to domestic shores and plans for cutting down on infection in universities and schools during the fall.

“The panelists will also share their insights on important lessons learned, strategies for the future, and ways for all South Carolinians to come together to solve health, social and economic challenges and improve quality of life for our citizens,” Konduros said in the release.

Reservations for the webinar are first come, first served.
