Class 48 of the Greenville Chamber’s Leadership Greenville program and foster home Pendleton Place have expanded the home’s Youth Resource Center by opening Dee’s Place, a gathering space at the center.

Leadership Greenville partnered with Pendleton Place to renovate an unused garage into the new space in the summer of 2021 and led a ribbon cutting today at 1139 Pendleton St.

The Youth Resource Center addresses essential life needs for youth who are experiencing homelessness and have likely been affected by abuse, neglect and trauma. The Youth Resource Center provides immediate safety to homeless youth, and offers basic needs such as showers, laundry, food, assessments, housing coordination, case management and job opportunities, according to a news release.

The project was named in honor and in memory of Dee, who had a heart for those who had no home, whether a physical or emotional home, according to the release. Dee's last name wasn't provided in the release for privacy reasons.

The center is one of four key programs housed at Pendleton Place and is led by Director Josh Crocker.
