Greenville Water names interim CEO

The Commission of Public Works for the city of Greenville has named an interim leader for its water company.

Greenville Water has appointed Jeffrey W. Boss to serve as interim CEO effective immediately. Boss has been serving as chief operations officer of Greenville Water since 2018, according to a Greenville Water news release.

Boss’ appointment follows the retirement of Greenville Water CEO David Bereskin.

Boss is a graduate of the University of Georgia and is a registered professional engineer in South Carolina and several other states, according to the release. He has extensive experience as a water utility executive, having previously served as deputy general manager of Beaufort Jasper Water & Sewer Authority from 2016-18 and as Gwinnett deputy director of operations and facilities from 2006-16.

During Boss’ tenure as COO of Greenville Water, he has introduced innovative utility technology to Greenville Water’s engineering, water production and distribution systems, the release stated. Specifically, he has focused his efforts on the development of a world class enterprise asset management program; the optimization of the chemical usage in the water treatment operation; and on system infrastructure modernization.

“Jeff has had significant industry experience during his career and has provided exemplary service to Greenville Water and the greater Greenville community.” Greenville Water Chair Phillip Kilgore said in the release. “The Commission has every confidence that Jeff will provide strong leadership and directior for Greenville Water and its customers as the Commission continues its search for a permanent Chief Executive.”

The Commission of Public Works is on the search for a permanent CEO.
