Construction has started a new hotel near the I-385/85 interchange in Greenville.
Windsor Aughtry Hotel Group said it has started work on a 138-room Residence Inn by Marriott on Carolina Point Parkway.
The new hotel will include 27 two-room king suites and be near the Clemson University International Center for Automotive Research, according to a news release.
Design of the hotel was done by Bounds and Gillespie of Memphis, Tenn., and Atlanta-based Pinkerton and Laws is constructing the new facility.
In addition to the king suites, Windsor Aughtry said the new hotel will also have “outdoor features” such as a fireplace, cooking area, sports courts and a heated swimming pool. The hotel is expected to open in spring 2018.
