Tindall Corp. cuts ribbon on new utility division facility

Spartanburg’s Tindall Corp. held a two-day grand opening event to celebrate its new utility division facility at 2877 Fairforest Clevedale Road.

The $27.9 million investment announced last April was slated to create 20 jobs.

“Tindall strives to be faithful in living out its core values,” Greg Force, president and CEO of Tindall Corp., said in a news release. “What this group has done, dreaming up this state-of-the-art plant and now bringing it to reality, is certainly evidence of both a growth mindset and a can-do attitude. I see exciting opportunities for growth ahead for both the company and its associates as we expand our capabilities and seek to continuously prove our claim that we are truly engineered to serve.”

Because of growth in demand of Tindall’s utility products, the company expanded to the new facility to accommodate the number of custom components currently being produced and streamline the process of manufacturing standard precast components, according to the company.

“This new facility means much more than just increasing our capacity,” Joel Sheets, vice president and general manager of Tindall’s utility division, said in the release. “This will give us the flexibility we need to create better, more innovative products for years to come. Every square inch of this facility is purpose built for innovation, efficiency and teamwork. It’s a major step forward for our division, and I can’t wait to see where it takes us.”

Tindall celebrated the division’s growth with an event Aug. 5 for local media and special guests to tour the facility and connect with Tindall leadership and an Aug. 6 ribbon-cutting ceremony with Gov. Henry McMaster in attendance.

The second event also was for Tindall employees and their families to be introduced to the new space.

With six production facilities located throughout the Mid-Atlantic and South, Tindall provides engineering, manufacturing, shipping and installation solutions for precast, prestressed concrete systems and underground utility structures, according to the release.

The Coordinating Council for Economic Development awarded Spartanburg County a $100,000 Set-Aside grant for costs related to the project.
