The 60-acre park on the edge of West Greenville's Southernside community has been 83 years in the making after the city's first Black postman, E.B. Holloway, sent in a petition for the park to the city council in 1939. Today's opening ceremonies favored more of a jubilant worship service than a ribbon cutting with a greeting from the Rev. Stacey Mills of Mountain View Baptist Church, a prayer from the Rev. Brian Habig of Downtown Prestyberian Church and gospel sing from the Westend Community Choir.

Learn more about Unity Park's grand opening and the years of work before it in the June 15 print edition of GSA Business Report.
