A modular home manufacturer is setting up shop in Oconee County’s city of Westminster.
Impact Housing Group, a builder of modular design housing, said through the state Commerce Department that it will establish new operations with a $30 million investment that will create 215 new jobs over the next five years.
Impact Housing Group is an integrated modular housing company that provides solutions for more affordable homes that are assembled off-site in a controlled environment, according to a news release, that leads to faster delivery. President and CEO Cecil Phillips says his company’s products provide solutions to affordable housing challenges.
“As more and more communities are challenged by the lack of essential housing, our new manufacturing facility in Westminster … will provide quality-engineered, modern, modular housing solutions at a more affordable price,” Phillips said in the release. “Our homes will positively impact the quality of life and economic growth of people and their communities for a long time to come.”
That off-site location will be in Oconee Industry and Technology Park in Oconee Business Parkway in Westminster. Operations are expected to be online by this time next year.
“Oconee County couldn’t be more excited and appreciative that Impact Housing Group has chosen our community for their new manufacturing facility, Oconee County District 3 Councilman Paul Cain said in the news release. “It is a testament to the county’s excellent business climate and a workforce that supports a number of diverse manufacturing operations, as well as the availability of key training partners, such as Tri County Tech, Hamilton Career Center and the efforts of Oconee Economic Alliance.”
The Coordinating Council for Economic Development has approved job development credits related to this project. The council also awarded a $250,000 Set-Aside grant to Oconee County to assist with the costs of site preparation and building construction.
