United Way of Anderson County will release performances from its first virtual Anderson Sings fundraiser, presented by The Peoples Bank, in the weeks following Aug. 27 — the deadline for musician registration.
Organizers hope the fundraiser will unearth county talent and raise money for United Way’s community services by opening the competition to online voters, a news release said. Proceeds from the $1 vote will go toward the nonprofit. Fans can vote for their favorite performer as many times as they want on the event’s Facebook page.
The grand prize winner will receive $1,000 and the opportunity to join the line-up at the 2021 Celebrate Anderson festival and record a track at Capricorn Music Studios where Otis Redding, Lynyrd Skynyrd and the Allman Brothers cut some of their hit albums, the release said.
