Greenville’s Peace Center has rescheduled its Broadway lineup this fall and spring in hopes that shows will return full swing in early 2021.

“To have the commitment of nearly 7,900 season ticket holders during a pandemic is extraordinary,” Megan Riegel, Peace Center president and CEO, said in a news release. “There is an incredible team of producers and agents working with us behind the scenes to get these shows to Greenville, just on a delay. We know people are excited to return to live performances, and we’re eagerly awaiting the time when we can invite them to return.”

The Peace Center suspended performances in mid-March because of the COVID-19 pandemic and has canceled almost 395 events and activities since then, according to the release.

“The support of our donors is essential to sustain our minimal operations during this downtime,” Riegel said in the release. “We’re committed to maintaining the stability of the organization and ensuring we’re well-positioned to welcome back the community when the time is right.”

Before the COVID-19 pandemic, the Peace Center generated an annual economic impact of $42 million on the Greenville economy.

“While this has been a challenging time for all of us in the arts and entertainment industry, we’re so appreciative of the tremendous response and support we’ve seen from our incredible patrons,” Riegel said.

Wicked, originally scheduled for Oct. 28- Nov. 15, has been postponed for early 2021 if concerns about COVID-19 subside.

Hadestown, scheduled for Nov. 24-29, is expected to come to the stage on Sept. 14-19, 2021.

1776 will be rescheduled again for Oct. 19-24, 2021, instead of its original Dec.  29, 2020- Jan. 3, 2021 date.

Oklahoma!, scheduled for Jan. 12-17, 2021, has been postponed until next fall.

Hamilton, scheduled for Feb. 23- March 14, 2021, has been pushed back until summer of 2022.
