Pura Alegria will start up the night with a free introductory dance lesson at 7 p.m. while the cash bar opens at 6 p.m. (Photo/File)Some say summer ends with Labor Day, but Upstate International and Pura Alegría might say it concludes with salsa instead.

From 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. Friday at Greenville’s Camperdown Plaza, the last installment of the three-part summer series of Salsa at Sunset: the Hottest Summer Nights in SC, will begin with live Latin music from Atlanta’s C.O.T. Band, a free dance lesson and hours of kicks.

A cash bar will be open from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the AC Marriott Hotel.

Founded by Willie Ziavino and Juan Bonini in 2010, C.O.T. plays a musical fusion of Caribbean rhythms with elements of funk, pop and Brazilian beats. The Pura Alegría Dance Company will lead the complimentary beginners’ salsa lesson.

The event has garnered up to 600 people in the past and is sponsored by the Metropolitan Arts Council, the city of Greenville, Give GVL at Fathom Realty and El Latino Newspaper.
