A pair of Upstate companies were recently awarded federal contracts by the United States military.
Anderson-based Basic Concepts Inc. was awarded a contract totaling $108,408.15 from the Defense Logistics Agency for spill contamination kits. While Champion Aerospace, based in Liberty, was awarded a $44,172 contract from the Defense Logistics Agency for main engine gas turbine spark igniters.
According to its website, Basic Concepts Inc. holds more than 10 patents for portable spill containment, modular spill containment systems and liquid containment equipment. The company was founded in 1988 and said that “over 200 military installations and hundreds of industrial sites use our products.” The company’s plant is located at 1310 Harris Bridge Road in Anderson.
The Champion Spark Plug Co. was formed in 1900 following the Wright brothers’ first flight. The company completed a $10 million expansion of its Liberty facility in 1990, according to its website. Its Liberty facility is located at 1230 Old Norris Road.
