The Adidas distribution center in Spartanburg is adding an overnight shift to answer rising demand, creating more than 200 new jobs in the process.

The new shift will create jobs in existing space at the 2.4 million-square-foot center in Spartanburg. “We are adding the new overnight weekend shift to meet increased consumer demand,” Rich Efrus, from Adidas corporate communications, said in an email. “We’re always working to improve our operations and increase the speed at which we deliver products to our consumers.”

He said the new shift will not require physical expansion of the facilities.

The company announced plans in August 2020 to add 500 jobs, saying in a news release those jobs would pay $12.50 to $13.25 an hour. This time the company is offering pay starting at $19 an hour, plus benefits, according to an announcement from Adidas.

In October 2019 the company opened an employee store in Greenville for workers at the 2.4 million-square-foot distribution center, selling the Adidas and Reebok merchandise handled at the distribution center for a 50%. The store is not open to the public without a pass.

Adidas is based in Portland, Ore.
