As part of the Tri-County Technical College’s 2021 Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act funding, the school will award almost $3 million to students in need over the next few weeks.

More than $22.7 billion was distributed to institutions of higher education to support students facing economic hardships created by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Eligible students must be enrolled at Tri-County Technical College for this spring semester, Federal Title IV eligible, have completed a 2020-2021 Free Application for Federal Student Aid, have a high school credential and meet “Satisfactory Academic Progress” requirements, according to a news release. Academic requirements include a GPA of 2.0 or higher, a minimum 67% completion rate and the ability to complete an eligible program of study within 150% of the required program hours.

DACA, dual enrollment, transient, non-degree and I-Best students are not eligible for the grant.

“We will use equity and flexibility to guide our grant awards process as we did in April 2020, when we disbursed $2.1 million in CARES Act funding to nearly 2,500 eligible students,” Galen DeHay, president of Tri-County Technical College, said in the release. “Grant awards will not be based on credit hours but on who needs it the most.”
