Glen Raven Custom Fabrics LLC in Anderson launched the largest solar array of its kind in the Upstate. The 1-megawatt solar array went online earlier this year. The Sunbrella fabric manufacturer partnered with Atlanta-based Hannah Solar on the project. The companies hosted a grand opening today at the facility.
The 3,076-panel display will power 100% of the lights at the 1-million-square-foot Anderson plant, offset enough waste annually to equal the planting of 2,500 tree seedlings each year and supply enough energy to power 105 homes, according to a news release
“Glen Raven’s decision to go solar at Anderson Plant came from our company’s passion for sustainability,” said Leib Oehmig, Glen Raven president and COO, in the release. “We are committed to sustainability best practices at our global facilities, and the solar array at Anderson is another step in our sustainable journey.”
The solar array, operated through Duke Energy’s Solar Rebate Program, is one of the largest net-metering solar systems in South Carolina, according to the release.
