TreesGreenville and Duke Energy are giving away trees this weekend as part of the Energy Saving Trees program in Greenville County.  The program was developed to help conserve energy and reduce energy bills through strategic tree planting, according to a news release.

Duke Energy customers who pre-registered for their free tree will pick-up them up this weekend at Conestee Park. Any unclaimed trees will be provided on a first come, first serve basis at the end of Saturday’s event, which lasts from 1:30 p.m. to 2 p.m.,  and during Sunday’s event, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.  The trees range in size from 6-feet to 7-feet tall, according to the release.

TreesGreenville was awarded a grant from the Duke Energy Foundation to continue the Energy-Saving Trees program. Together, they will give away 245 trees to Greenville County customers this weekend.

TreesGreenville is a countywide 501c3 nonprofit organization, with a mission to plant, promote and protect trees. Since 2005, the group has planted more than 5,000 trees in parks, greenways, schools and neighborhoods in and around Greenville County, the release said.
