The Greer Commission of Public Works has been awarded the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for the 2017 fiscal year from the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada. This is the 14th consecutive year Greer CPW has received the award and is the highest form of recognition in governmental accounting and financial reporting, according to a news release.

“Transparency in our financial reporting is paramount when it comes to operating a public power utility. We take pride in excelling in all facets of the organization including our finances,” Gene Gibson, Greer CPW chairman, said in the release. “We are very proud to receive recognition from this nationwide organization. Many of our peers have never received one of these awards but this is our 14th in a row. We are very proud of our finance manager, Chuck Reynolds, and his entire staff.”

Greer CPW’s financial reporting has been judged by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the program, including demonstrating a constructive spirit of full disclosure to clearly communicate its financial story and motivate potential users to read the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting.
