Significant progress will be seen on the Cancer Survivors Park in the coming days as the Heirloom Companies begins installation of the Celebration Pavilion in downtown Greenville.

The structure’s materials were imported from Canada to Chicago, Ill., where The Heirloom Companies’ team flew up to prepare and bend the materials. Heirloom rolled the individual ribs of the canopy structure using the only machine fit for the project available in the country, according to a press release from the Heirloom Companies.

The structure is crafted from mild steel and measures 55ft x 40ft x 50ft.

Cancer Survivors Park is located next to the Chamber of Commerce at 24 Cleveland St.

This is phase II for the Cancer Survivors Park, a 6.8 acre site along the Swamp Rabbit Trail. It addition to the Pavilion centerpiece, it includes a bridge that crosses the river, a waterfall, an ADA-accessible garden and walkway, and a survivorship education center.

The Cancer Survivors Park Alliance is the force behind the park, which will be turned over to the city of Greenville when completed.
