Partners in Primary Care, a subsidiary of Humana Inc., plans to open five medical centers this year in South Carolina, including one at 366 Market St. in Seneca on Monday, June 10. A grand opening and ribbon-cutting event will take place on Tuesday, June 18, at 10 a.m.

Partners in Primary Care is part of a family of senior-focused, primary care centers that deliver care to 35,000 Medicare Advantage patients. While a Humana subsidiary, each Partners in Primary Care center serves members from many different Medicare health plans, including Aetna, Cigna, Wellcare and Humana, according to a news release.

The new Seneca Partners in Primary Care center will have approximately 6,400 square feet of space and will be staffed by nine full-time employees, including medical director Dr. Earl C. Wood III and center administrator Tonya Thomas, the release said.

In addition to the Seneca Partners in Primary Care center, the company will add four other new centers later this year — two in Charleston and two additional centers in the Greenville-Spartanburg area, where the company opened four medical centers in 2016.

Partners in Primary Care takes a holistic approach to health with the physician diagnosing and treating the patient, the release said. Care teams augment patient care by creating personalized care plans that include helping patients with social, behavioral and financial needs.
