Santec’s Urban Places on Tuesday will present concepts for a master plan for the Swamp Rabbit Trail Extension. The presentation will take place at 5:30 p.m. at the University Center auditorium, 225 S. Pleasantburg Drive in Greenville.

These are the first plans available since the consultants conducted a charrette to get feedback from the public.

The city of Greenville hired the group to develop a plan for the area along the planned 4.5-mile extension, according to an advisory from the city. The objectives of the master plan include developing policy and land use recommendations, conceptual plans for key redevelopment opportunities along the trail and “creative strategies to encourage redevelopment of private property and connectivity with the multi-use trail extension.”

The study area includes private property and public rights-of-way within about a quarter-mile on either side of the trail’s proposed route along Laurens road from Cleveland Park to CU-ICAR, the advisory said. Design and construction of the trail itself is a separate project managed by Greenville County.
