Prisma Health intends to transfer the operations of Prisma Health Lila Doyle to an independent operating subsidiary of The Ensign Group Inc. under a long-term sublease.

Pending the fulfillment of legal and regulatory requirements, the sublease is expected to be finalized Nov. 1, according to a news release.

Under terms of the agreement, the Lila Doyle nursing facility will remain clinically affiliated with Prisma Health.

“We look forward to a close working relationship with Ensign, which has the experience, expertise and resources to continue building upon Lila Doyle’s solid foundation and will elevate services to the next level of operational excellence,” Hunter Kome, Prisma Health Oconee Memorial Hospital CEO, said in the release. “Ensign is committed to providing safe quality care and services to the patients and residents of Lila Doyle and is finalizing plans to expand the number of beds in operation and offer new services such as ventilator care and other specialty care.”

Lila Doyle, located on the campus of Prisma Health Oconee Memorial Hospital, is a 120-bed skilled nursing facility that provides long-term care and serves as a rehabilitation center with therapy services for those needing short-term placement following a hospitalization.

Partnerships and transfers are increasing across the country between hospitals and skilled nursing facility operators as organizations seek to improve their ability to meet the needs of patients requiring specialized services, Kome said in the release.

“Ensign and its affiliates will ensure that the Lila Doyle name continues to stand for compassionate high-quality care,” he said.

Prisma Health has 18 acute and specialty hospitals in its 21-county market area of South Carolina. The Ensign Group operates more than 250 health care businesses, most of them in senior living, skilled nursing and in-house therapy, according to the company website.
