The 2017 Summer on Augusta Festival celebrates one of Greenville’s most historic business districts. Festivities and live music will take place all along Augusta Road from today through Sunday, June 18. The annual celebration, presented by Virginia Hayes of Coldwell Banker Caine, is created by members of the Augusta Road Business Association to bring the community together for good food, great music and family friendly atmosphere, according to a news release.
The four-day celebration is usually held in July, but due to the heat, the members of the Augusta Road Business Association have moved the dates to June.
“The association members want the Greenville community to come out and enjoy the festivities in a little cooler weather,” said Clair Ray, association marketing consultant and owner of Clair Ray Creative Marketing, in the release. “June is still summertime and warm, but hopefully more comfortable than the end of July.”
According to the release, events include a Tomato Pie Contest, Block Party at Capers Place, Grillin’ and Chillin’ at Augusta Commons, Hound Dog Social at Augusta Village, Shaggin’ on Augusta and a Shag Contest. Local musicians playing will be Layton Meacham, The Shag Doctorz, Spencer Rush , Trey Francis, Charles Hedgepath and Darby Wilcox.
