Staff Report //July 23, 2018//
The Carolina Panthers 2018 Summer Training Camp opens Thursday, July 26, at Wofford College’s Gibbs Stadium with the annual Training Camp Kickoff Party. The celebration is from 4:30 p.m. to 9 p.m., with the team’s first practice of camp scheduled for 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.; gates open at 4 p.m. Admission and parking are free.
This is the 24th consecutive year Wofford has hosted the Panthers for summer camp, according to a news release. Last year Wofford reported 100,815 visitors during the camp, which resulted in a $13.2 million economic impact, a record for the camp.
On Friday, July 27, Atrium Health will present Play 60 Day from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. on the intramural field at Wofford, across from the main spectator entrance to camp. Play 60 Day is a free attraction with kid-style NFL combine activity stations and inflatables.
Panthers Pals, presented by Academy Sports and Outdoors, again will be offered to children ages 6-13 at most of the practices. Panthers Pals offers five randomly selected children an opportunity to watch part of practice from field level and then spend time with a player. Kids can register to be a Panthers Pal at the Academy Sports and Outdoors Kids Field located outside the main entrance to the practice fields. Names are selected about 45 minutes before the end of practice; winners receive a Panthers Pal T-shirt and are escorted to a special area to watch the conclusion of practice.
Training camp concludes Monday, Aug. 13.
