Euphoria names student culinary finalists

Student finalists have been announced for the fourth annual Healthy Lunchtime Throwdown, supported by Upstate Parent, Table 301 and Michelin. The throwdown cooking challenge is part of this year’s Euphoria, a four-day food, wine and music festival. The four finalists will participate in the live cooking challenge on euphoria’s main culinary stage on Sunday, Sept. 23, during the festival’s Sunday Brunch event, where one winner will be chosen.

The student finalists are William Stephenson of Mauldin High School, who will be paired with chef Brandon Jew of Mister Jiu’s in San Francisco; Emily Easler from Travelers Rest High, paired with chef Vivien Durand of Prince Noir in Bordeaux, France; Andrew Espittia of Berea High, paired with chef Teague Moriarty of Sons & Daughters in San Francisco, and Sadie Hitabidle of Wade Hampton High, paired with chef Alex Jackson of Sons & Daughters, according to a news release.

The winner will a prize package from LiveWell Greenville and Euphoria and will have his or her recipe added to the Greenville County Schools menu for the duration of the 2018-2019 school year, the release said.
