A tradition for more than 30 years continues on Sunday, Nov. 18, when the Augusta Road Business Association holds its annual Holiday Open House event from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Holiday Open House was created in the 1980s by the first Augusta Road Business Association members and it continues each year on the Sunday before Thanksgiving. Participating businesses will host special events to celebrate the upcoming holidays. Shoppers can visit with Santa, take carriage rides and get hot cocoa and holiday treats, according to a news release.

The Augusta Road Business Association also uses this time to select and support a fellow Augusta Road organization. This year collection boxes will be set out at participating business during Holiday Open House to help The Samaritan House, the release said. The Samaritan House provides residents in the Augusta Road area with help by coordinating the solicitation, collection, organization, management and distribution of food and clothing to those in need.

The Augusta Road Business Association is a coalition of businesses and residents who work to establish a unified voice for the community, promote area advancement and economic development, and provide support and communication for businesses along the Augusta Road corridor.
