Furman University Paladins’ basketball was set to kick off its “Weekends at the Well” game series at the Bon Secours Wellness Arena this weekend, but the school’s low-to-no contact policy is reigning back Saturday’s game to the Timmons Arena on campus.
The Southern Conference men’s game, pitting the Paladins against East Tennessee State Univeristy, will be attended only by guests of the athletes, coaches and staff to fit the arena’s 250-person capacity as the school remains in the second phase of its athletic ticketing plan, according to a news release.
Tickets purchased directly from the Bon Secours Wellness Arena or Ticketmaster will be cancelled, while “Weekends at the Well” package buyers can either receive a refund or attend a future game.
Still three “Weekends at the Well” games remain on the roster, starting with a match against the Chattanooga Mocs on Jan. 30. Furman and Wofford will stage a rematch from last season’s play on Feb. 6, followed by a game against Western Carolina on Feb. 13, according to the release.
The Paladins jumped back into the season Wednesday at an away match against The Citadel that was streamed on ESPN+ and ESPN Upstate on 97.7 FM in Greenville.
