The 43rd Reedy River Run is back on the calendar for Sep. 6 with a new title sponsor.

United Community Bank, after establishing headquarters in Greenville this year, will lend its name to the race, which was postponed from its original April 2020 date, according to a news release.

“We are thrilled to begin a partnership between United and GTC and work together in support a shared mission of creating a healthier community through financial and physical wellbeing,” Michelle Seaver, bank president for Greenville and Spartanburg counties, said in the release. “United is proud to sponsor such a beloved tradition and make a positive impact on the city of Greenville in the years to come.”

Greenville Track Club first hosted the Reedy River Run in 1977 to showcase the new paved paths in Cleveland Park and Reedy River, which have now been integrated into the Swamp Rabbit Trail, according to the release. The 10K race will be limited to 1,000 runners this year and the 5K to 750 participants. Registration will open on May 1.

“We are extremely excited to have United Community Bank partner with the GTC for one of Greenville’s historic events,” race director Mike Caldwell said in the release. “United is committed to the Greenville community and recently named Greenville … as the bank’s corporate headquarters. We believe this is an excellent partnership to promote physical fitness and to continue to provide such an exciting event to the community of runners in our growing city.”
