Mother’s Day Brunch at Village Kitchen, The Tulip Tree

Village Kitchen at Hartness will serve up a special menu (.pdf) curated by Hartness’ Executive Chef Tanner Marino along with a bloody mary, mimosa and bellini bar for the moms who need an early happy hour from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday. The café does not take reservations and is located within the Hartness community at 2000 Society St. in Greenville.

Spartanburg’s The Tulip Tree Restaurant and Bar will also honor Upstate mothers with a special $35 brunch selection from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday at its 121 W. Main St. location.

Main courses include a lamb duo of boneless lamb steak and braised lamb; smoked pork chop with apple butter sauce; Seafood Newburg made with shrimp, scallops, lobster, brandy cream sauce, and puff pastry; and a smoked half-chicken brined in sweet tea and served with peach and green tomato chow chow. All main courses come with asparagus, sour cream mashed potatoes, and warm roll with herbed white wine butter.

The starters, an additional $10, are Port Royal clam chowder or spinach salad with warm bacon dressing, and the dessert menu features maple pudding cake and chocolate crème caramel. The bar menu features spring-inspired drinks like mimosas, Bloody Marys, and sangria, according to the release.

Seating will be limited. Visitors can reserve a table on TheTulipTree.com or the Open Table app.

Legacy restaurant celebrates 41-year anniversary

After serving up half shells and steaks in Greenville since 1981, the Blockhouse Oyster Bar and Restaurant kicked of its 41th year with an anniversary party on April 23. The event, hosted outside the venue, featured free T-shirts, live music by Louis Sagedy and the bar’s favorite dishes and drinks.
