First SC Huey Magoo’s opens in Greenville

The family operating a number of Papa John’s franchises is bringing an Orlando-based restaurant with a chicken tender-based menu to the Upstate.

The first Huey Magoo’s opened this week at 2029 Wade Hampton Blvd. in Greenville and Bo and John Knapp are the franchisees for 11 more. The Greenville restaurant is the first Huey Magoo’s in South Carolina, according to a news release. The 2,300 square foot free standing Greenville restaurant features an outdoor patio and a drive-thru. 

The Greenville store is the 29^th restaurant opening systemwide over seven states. The company has licensed more than 225 franchises in 10 states. 

Huey Magoo’s Greenville will offer dine-in, take out and, beginning Aug. 1, third-party delivery services Uber Eats and DoorDash.

 “We are very excited to bring this great brand to our hometown of Greenville … and we cannot wait for everyone to try ‘the filet mignon of Chicken,’” Bo and John Knapp, said in the news release, invoking the company slogan. “We love Greenville and plan on Greenville always being our home.”  

President and CEO Andy Howard said he was attracted to the Knapps because of their track record in the industry.

“Huey Magoo’s Southeast expansion is in full swing,” Howard said in the release. “It’s a terrific day celebrating our first restaurant opening in South Carolina.  Bo and John have had incredibly successful careers, and we are very fortunate to have Huey Magoo’s development in the Greenville area under their leadership.”

Each Huey Magoo’s tender is always made all natural, with no antibiotics ever, no hormones, no steroids and no preservatives, the company says.
