A longtime downtown Greenville pizza and beer spot will be closing soon.

Barleys announced on social media over the weekend that it would be permanently closing after 27 years at 25 W. Washington St., citing lingering COVID-19 pandemic workforce difficulties.

“The last 3 years have been so trying and difficult for the hospitality industry and while making it through the pandemic just to deal with a decimated workforce and uphill battle to rebuild, I have come to the decision to close the doors one final time on April 1,” an Instagram post stated.

While the restaurant will close, the pool hall will stay open until mid-April, the post stated.

“(Twenty-seven) years is an amazing run for any business and I am very proud of what we have accomplished in that time. I am especially proud and honored to have been able to work with and to meet all the wonderful customers and regulars that have walked through these doors.

“It has truly been an honor and a privilege to serve Greenville and this community for all these years.”

A final “big blowout party” will be announced in mid-April, according to the post.

“We look forward to saying goodbye over the next month,” the post ended. “Thanks for all the great years in Greenville.

“We hope we made a difference!”
