IVC using drive-thru job fair for next round of hiring

Hire Dynamics recently hosted a drive-thru job fair in Raleigh, N.C. (Photo/Provided)Manufacturing companies from all sectors have been hiring across the Upstate, said Laura Moody, regional director of Hire Dynamics.

“Everyone overall is picking up, and some of the reasons for us to have these job fairs is because we have some new clients as well,” Moody said, adding that automotive manufacturing and electronic assembly have joined the ranks of medical supply and food processing plants in hiring new employees.

To bring in an influx of candidates without an influx of COVID-19 cases, manufacturers are turning to human resources companies like Hire Dynamics to host drive-thru job fairs, an initiative Moody says began under the leadership of Hire Dynamics’ Atlanta office.

Since then, the Upstate offices have coordinated several drive-thru events in Spartanburg, Atlanta and Raleigh. The recent Spartanburg job fair helped place employees for several new startups and other companies planning to relaunch operations, Moody said.

Applicants start their application through Hire Dynamics’ Work4HD app — either prior to the event or on-site — and then proceed through several outdoor stations to complete an interview and onboarding documents.

“Some people don’t even have to get out of their cars,” she said, adding that drug tests and background checks will come later. Applicants who do not receive a position in the specified industry will be added to Hire Dynamics’ candidate pool for other openings.

In response to a need to fill 55 positions at International Vitamin Corp., Hire Dynamics will interview candidates at a drive-thru event Tuesday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at IVC’s Nutra Plant at 4615 Dairy Drive in Greenville. Open roles include production, material handling and forklift positions, according to a news release.

“I think we will continue using some of this” after the pandemic, Moody said. “Anything that makes it easier for everybody — I think that’s the thing we have to look at.”
